About Andy

Andy Ketsiri graduated with a History major and Political Science minor in the Spring of 2021. Within three years of undergraduate study, Andy represented UCI as a former White House Intern and as a campus-endorsed candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship. Upon her return from Washington D.C., and her subsequent study abroad program in Rome, she then served as a dedicated Peer Advisor for the UCDC Capital Internship Program. Additionally, Andy championed growth and education in the campus community as a Right to Know/Championing All Men to Prevent Sexism (RTK/CHAMPS) Peer Educator and an Anteater Pledge Ambassador, while also being an Opinion Writer for the New University. Inducted as a junior to Phi Beta Kappa, she has also been recognized for the Chancellor’s Award of Distinction and the Distinguished Anteater Award.

Q&A

1)  If we ask one of your friends to describe you, what would they say?

I absolutely love to meet and connect with people, and I have been told that my energy and passion may be described as a ray of sunshine! I am so incredibly fortunate to have a network of wonderful friends who support and encourage me to be my truest, most vibrant self.

2)  What life events or personal mentorships, if any, directed you to the field of study you have chosen for your future endeavors?

I had the incredible opportunity to be selected to serve as an intern at the White House. My experiences, as well as the information that I’ve acquired and skills that I’ve developed there, have definitely solidified the trajectory of exactly why I want to pursue a career in law: to stand up for, empower, and defend those who cannot themselves, and to strive to create a more brilliant, equitable world that champions diversity, passion, integrity, and justice.

3)  Did you ever seek information and advice from the SOP advising team? If so, what type of advice were you seeking and what was your experience with them?

Absolutely! In pursuit of the Rhodes Scholarship, I turned to the wonderful SOP advising team, which not only allowed me to strengthen the caliber of my application but also allowed me to envision potential avenues in which I may apply my knowledge and experiences with exponentially greater clarity. The team also consistently encouraged me to grow and mature both personally and academically; I am certain that I will apply all that I have learned from SOP to my professional endeavors and beyond!
