2021 Member Spotlight Collection

UCI Phi Beta Kappa presents a collection of member features from the year 2021. Click on the blurbs below to be redirected to the pages for each individual feature!

January: Malak Kudaimi

Throughout her time in college, Malak Kudaimi was active in establishing and maintaining food security efforts on campus, including serving as Student Manager at the FRESH Basic Needs Hub, the largest college basic needs center in the country.

February: Ravi Sandhu

As an undergraduate at UCI, Ravi Sandhu was actively involved in interdisciplinary research. During his senior year, he was selected to participate in the Public Health Honors Research Colloquium

March: Aparna Shakkarwar

Aparna Shakkarwar is a fourth-year, junior inductee to Phi Beta Kappa, graduating in spring of 2021. She is currently pursuing a double-major in Economics and Education Sciences, as well as a minor in Political Science.

April: Kimberly Zhang

Kimberly Zhang, junior inductee to Phi Beta Kappa, graduated in spring 2021. She is part of Campuswide Honors Collegium and is a fourth-year mathematics and chemistry double major specializing in applied mathematics and chemical biology at the University of California, Irvine.

May: Katia Necoechea Madriz

A junior inductee to Phi Beta Kappa in 2020, Katia Necoechea Madriz (she/ella) is a first-generation, low-income student, raised by a single mother, from a predominantly Latinx community of Chula Vista, CA.

June: Karishma Muthukamar

Karishma Muthukumar studies cognitive science and biology as a third-year student at the University of California, Irvine, where she founded The Patient Project and launched a journal of student reflections.

July: Misha Ponnuraju

Misha Ponnuraju is a Fulbright Alternate. Misha is a 2020 graduate in English with an Emphasis in Creative Writing and Minor in Art History, a Phi Beta Kappa member, and Humanities Honors Program participant.

August: Adrianna Burton

Adrianna Burton is a University of California, Irvine Ph.D. student in Informatics. Her research interests focus on the intersection of representation, identity-making, and analog games.

September: Mando Eijansantos

Mando Eijansantos is a graduate of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology who spent their time as a UCI undergraduate conducting research on radioactive bone cement for treatment of spinal metathesis under the guidance of Dr. Joyce Keyak.

October: Irene Morales

Irene Morales graduated cum laude as a double major in Criminology, Law, and Society and Education Sciences in June 2021.

November: Vanessa Le

Vanessa Le is a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Recipient currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of International Studies.

December: Inbar Michael

Inbar Michael graduated with a Bachelor’s in History and a minor in Humanities and Law from UC Irvine in 2021.
