This year’s Initiation Ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019, 2:00 – 3:00PM, in Pacific Ballroom C-D of the Student Center. Initiates should be seated by 1:30PM for a special pre-ceremony Welcome and Orientation meeting with Dr. Rose Jones, PBK Director. The Initiation Ceremony will begin at 2:00PM and be followed by a Reception, 3:00-3:30PM, in Pacific Ballroom A-B. Friends, faculty mentors, and family members of initiates and other campus members of Phi Beta Kappa are welcome to attend.
On the day of the Ceremony, initiates should begin checking-in at 1:00PM and take their seats for the pre-ceremony meeting by 1:30PM. Arriving early will help you avoid long lines. At check-in, you will receive your LifeTouch photo card, the Phi Beta Kappa Handbook, the Key Collection order form, and the Ceremony Program. If you wish to purchase a Phi Beta Kappa cord, you may do so with a credit card for $12.50 at the check-in desk (if you did not already pick it up at the PBK office prior to the ceremony). The PBK office is located in the Writing Center, Suite 193, on the first floor of the Science Library.

At an appointed time, you will be asked to walk up to the stage and have your name announced. After you cross the stage, you will be given your official Phi Beta Kappa Certificate of Membership, sign the Roll Book, and then return to your seat. We ask that new members wear appropriate “business casual” attire for the event.
New members who are unable to attend the Initiation Ceremony may pick up their Phi Beta Kappa Certificates starting Monday, June 17, 2019 in 193 Science Library, in the Center of Writing & Communication between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
